4x4Beast Fabrication and Rockalot set out to build a hardcore but yet a streetable 1982 Toyota 4x4 pickup.
Below is the first in a series of articles detailing the transformation of Rockalot into a capable rock crawler. The last page contains the list of future mods.
Further details can be found on Rockalot's own page.
Let's start with a front bumper:
Originally Rory wanted a front bumper with the least amount of approach angle as possible. Rory was going to use a receiver mounted winch so that he could either plug it into the front or rear bumper.
After realizing the incovienence of moving a winch around and the loss of space while stored in the bed, Rory opted for a tubular winch bumper, but that is another story!
Features: stinger, light tabs, three attachment points including the receiver.
Materials: 1" rod, 3/16 walled 2x6, 1/4" plate, 7/8" clevis hangers that pierce trough the bumper for strength.
